As the daughter of a doctor and as the sister of a biologist, both now deceased, I am interested in the intersection of art and science as a point of departure. Science and art inquiry both find their inspiration in asking questions. My questions are: is the physical presence of someone necessary for there to be an emotional connection to that individual? Can I nurture a connection to those I have lost through their letters, diaries, and stories?
As a mixed media artist, I am using sculpture, print, and drawing to create immersive installations that bridge past and present. I am exploring loss and distance through ephemeral materials and family imagery transforming what is fleeting into the concrete.
