Stop Redlining

Continuing the use of rope to make sculpture, I interpreted the theme of Reach both literally and figuratively. Redlining references the practice of drawing red lines on city and town maps by credit and insurance companies around neighborhoods not worthy of investment and these neighborhoods typically were inhabited by black people. Decades later we see the results of this disinvestment in the neighborhoods.

By installing the rope up the tree, one can see the sculpture climbing higher to something better but unfortunately the effects of redlining have reached down into the generations and caused everlasting harm.
